The Word · Effective June 10, 2026
The Word ("the app", "we") is a Bible search and study app. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and what control you have over it. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the service, we don't sell anything about you, and there are no ads or third-party trackers.
Your saved passages, personal notes, recent searches, and cached study content are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded to our servers. Deleting the app deletes them; deleting your account in Settings also erases them from that device.
When you search or open the study tools, your question or the passage reference is processed by Anthropic's Claude AI service to identify relevant passages and generate study notes. All Scripture text shown in the app comes from our own King James Version database, never from the AI. AI-generated study notes are clearly marked and are intended to support personal reflection, not replace it.
We use a small set of providers to run the app, each receiving only what is needed for their function: Supabase (authentication and database), Railway (server hosting), Anthropic (AI processing of search questions and passage references), Qdrant (Scripture text database), RevenueCat (subscription management, once purchases are live), and Resend (sending account confirmation and password-reset emails).
Account information is kept until you delete your account. Service logs (search questions, not linked to identity) are kept for as long as needed for quality and safety review. Local device data remains until you delete it, the app, or your account.
You can permanently delete your account at any time in the app: Settings → Delete Account. This deletes your account and subscription record from our systems and erases the app's local data on that device. Deleting your account does not cancel an active App Store or Google Play subscription. Manage that in your store account settings.
The Word is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Connections to our servers use HTTPS. Account credentials are managed by Supabase with industry-standard hashing. Access to server data is restricted to the developer.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. Account deletion is available directly in the app; for anything else, contact us and we will respond promptly.
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date above and note the change in the app or by email.
